In June 2012, the Task Force to Study Access of Individuals with Mental Illness to Regulated Firearms was established (Chapter 131, Acts of 2012). The Task Force is to study whether current State laws and policies concerning access of individuals with a history of mental illness to regulated firearms are adequate or need to be changed. Also, current laws and policies relating to access of law enforcement officers to mental health records will be examined, and whether access to theose records should be expanded will be considered.

Authorization for the Task Force extends through May 31, 2013.
